Note on Yarn Weight

I also wanted to point out that although I use a medium weight yarn to make this pattern, you can use other types of yarn. If you want it to be bigger and soft, then you can use a chunky soft yarn such as Bernat blanket yarn, Red Heart baby yarn, or even a velvet yarn.

Just keep in mind if you do choose to use larger yarn; you will want to increase the size of crochet hook you use as well.

You can also decrease the size of your yarn to make a smaller crochet octopus using this pattern. When decreasing the size of your yarn, you will also want to be sure that you use a smaller crochet hook.

I also have a bonus crochet pattern that I am excited to share with you. This miniature octopus is adorable and makes a great addition to the above pattern.
